Questions before you find your home
Start with the questions below. If your situation is different, send us a message on LINE and tell us what you need.
Getting started
What should I send to start a conversation?
On LINE, tell us whether you want to rent or buy, your budget, preferred move date and number of bedrooms. Include a property ID if a listing interests you. You can start with a question if your plans are still taking shape.
Can I contact you before arriving in Japan?
You can send your plans on LINE while in Japan or before arriving. Include your travel plans and preferred move date when you know them. If you cannot use LINE, open the email option on our contact page.
Where can I see the listed homes?
Open All Homes in the menu to see rental and sale listings. Check bedrooms, floor area and costs on each property page, then include its ID in your LINE message. Availability is confirmed when you enquire.
What if I cannot use LINE?
On the contact page, open Cannot use LINE? to find the email option. Include your budget, timing, bedroom count and any property ID you would like to ask about.
Renting
How should I compare a 1LDK with a one-bedroom home?
A 1LDK has one room separate from the living, dining and kitchen area. Check whether that room works as a bedroom by looking at its dimensions, windows and storage on the floor plan and at a viewing. Compare floor area as well as the layout label.
In what order should I arrange an address, phone and bank account?
Documents and the order of arrangements depend on the provider and contract. If this is your first rental in Japan, tell us your arrival and move dates, how you can currently be contacted and what you have already arranged. See our guide from enquiry to moving in.
Buying
Can I enquire while I am still considering buying?
Tell us the area, space, budget and timing you have in mind. The listed prices and conditions can help you organise your questions. Check financing and lending requirements with the relevant financial institution for your own circumstances.
Life in Funabori
How can I check a commute from Funabori?
Our Funabori guide gives three route examples: Shinjuku or Ichigaya, Otemachi, and the Akihabara area. Include the home-to-station walk, waiting, train journey, transfers and the walk to work. Send your workplace station on LINE so you can include the journey in your search priorities.
