Direct to Shinjuku; connections to Ginza and Shibuya

Allow about 30–35 minutes to Ginza and about 40 minutes to Shibuya with a transfer. Express services run at particular times, so check the timetable for your commute. - Funabori StationToei Shinjuku Line, local Towards Shinjuku; about 30 min
- IchigayaNo change; get off at your stop
- Shinjuku
Add your walk to the station, transfers and the walk to work.
Route: Funabori → Ichigaya or Shinjuku on the Toei Shinjuku Line. No line change is needed; Shinjuku is about 30 minutes away. Choose a train that stops at your destination. For a home eight minutes from the station, add that walk and the time to reach the platform before leaving. In the evening, return on the same line and stop for groceries before going home. If your office is near Shinjuku-sanchome, compare that station too.

Route example: Funabori → Jimbocho on the Toei Shinjuku Line, then the Tokyo Metro Hanzomon Line towards Oshiage to Otemachi. Otemachi is the next Hanzomon Line stop after Jimbocho. Morning: include the walk between platforms in your plan, as well as the exit nearest your office. At a large station, the final exit can matter as much as the transfer. Evening: check the return route, then plan whether you want to shop on the way home. This pattern suits someone comparing a quieter home area with a central office commute.

Iwamotocho and JR Akihabara are separate stations. Check the exit and walk to your workplace.
Route example: Funabori → Iwamotocho on a Toei Shinjuku Line service that stops there, then walk to your workplace around Akihabara. Iwamotocho and JR Akihabara are separate stations, so include the street walk rather than treating this as the same platform. Morning: compare the Iwamotocho exit with the actual office address. You may reach your workplace on foot without taking another train. Evening: walk back to Iwamotocho and return towards Funabori. Check the route in rain, too, and confirm current train times before deciding on your daily schedule.

Cherry trees beside the Shinkawa
The Shinkawa runs south of Funabori Station. Its promenade stretches for about 3 km, with cherry trees along the water. In spring, you can see the blossoms reflected in the river. The fire-watch tower at the west water-gate square makes an easy meeting point. Take a walk after picking up groceries, or spend part of a weekend following the river to Shinkawa Sakura Hall. These photographs show spring; the paths are there throughout the year. At a viewing, check how far your prospective home is from the river.

Nearby childcare options include Funabori, Funabori Daini and Funabori Daisan nurseries, Minori no Wakaba’s Funabori branch, and Solasto Funabori. Consider the nursery and station routes alongside the home itself. Try home → nursery → station in the morning, and station → pickup → groceries → home in the evening. Check the route with a pushchair or bicycle, and ask Edogawa City and the nursery about ages, extended care and vacancies. A nearby nursery does not guarantee a place; check childcare arrangements while looking for a home.
Food, baths & exercise
Chinese restaurants and different styles of ramen
As well as casual Chinese restaurants, Funabori has ramen shops worth adding to a weekend walk. Ooshima serves Sapporo-style miso ramen and is featured by Tokyo Ramen of the Year. Three nearby examples are Konami Sports Club Funabori, a one-minute walk; FIT365 Funabori, three minutes from the north exit; and Spa & Sports Your Funabori, a five-minute walk. Cherry trees & parks
A green weekend at Gyosen Park
Gyosen Park in Kita-Kasai has the Heisei Japanese garden and the Edogawa Natural Zoo. It is south of Funabori, rather than directly outside the station. Include it as a weekend outing and check the walking or bus route from your home. A family might spend the morning looking at the animals and take a quieter walk around the garden afterwards. Someone working from home might prefer time among the trees on a day off. Opening days and access differ between facilities, so check the official information before setting out.

Choose a route and return time that suit your household, and check the station exit and current park information before you go.

Compare homes
Compare rooms you can actually use
A 1LDK generally has one room separate from its living, dining and kitchen area; a 2LDK has two. Compare the bedroom count and floor area together, rather than the label alone. As a planning example, a 40 m² one-bedroom home is about 431 sq ft, while a 60 m² two-bedroom home is about 646 sq ft. These are comparison examples, not available listings. For a couple working from home, check whether a desk can fit without blocking the bed or doorway. For a family, check storage, bedroom dimensions and the route from the entrance to the kitchen. Published floor area is not all clear, usable floor space: inspect the floor plan and measurements at a viewing.
Find a home in Funabori →Try the neighbourhood before you decide
Bring three priorities: the bedroom count and room you need, the shops or outdoor places you want nearby, and your workplace station. View the floor plan, walk the route to the station and shop, and look at the streets at the time you would normally return. Send these priorities with your budget and move date on LINE. We can use them to discuss which listed homes you would like to look at.
